Im looking for a good expedition style stove.. 2 burner or one burner and a grill attachment either way... works...

I bought a 3 burner from HF a couple of years ago but its not working right and or it works only at times... time to upgrade.

Im tired of using the small camping tents as the canister need to be in my sleeping bag for them to work That's when the temps drop down into the 20's 30's.... time to upgrade.

I was looking at them coleman's and bruntton's and Century's but I want something with more punch for those cold winter car camping days.

Im looking at getting either of these....

MS3G Denali 3 Burner Grill Stove Combo - Camp Chef

ATS50T All Terrain Sport Stove - Camp Chef

Soto Outdoors

and the cook partner stove from Adventure trailers...

Thanks in advance for all the input/help.

You would probably be best served with a gasoline stove. Nothing better in cold weather or at high altitude. I've used the Svea back packing stoves for many years. The new Coleman multi fuel stoves look very attractive, if I didn't already own two and three burner Coleman white gas stoves I'd look into those. There is a lot to be said for a stove that uses the same fuel as your vehicle. These are not trendy stoves they have been around forever, with good reason, they work.

I have a multi fuel stove already is a Primus one and its great, used it a few days on Pico de Orizaba for a few days, we used gasoline and then diesel .. and you are right.. they are awesome.. but Im looking for a 2 burner stove that I can use with my propane tank and that could be used by several folks at the same time....or do two different things like cook and boil water. On our last trip to Zion over the TG holiday we had 9 of us and when you want hot water for yer coffee/tea or hot coco I hate having to wait.. (yeah Im getting old and spoiled..)..

Thanks for the input tho' !!

Camp chef

I don't have much to add, other than the Camp Chef stoves you already mention. I have been looking for a grill/cooker, and I think the camp chef ones will for sure do the trick.

This is the other camp chef grill: RAINIER

Camp chef's are awesome! I have the 3 burner model (scored off CL for $100) and my buddy has a 2 burner. We've cooked on them at elk camp for over 5 years now and have absolutely nothing but good things to say. Can't comment on the BBQ box, as we pack a BBQ with us as well. Good luck!

thanks for the info..

I never thought of looking on CL  !!

Another vote for Camp Chef w/the BBQ box. Found ours at Costco. Worked it hard for 6 years now. One of my favorite investments.

On the Camp Chef, Can a large pan fit on the burner? It appears that the 90 degree wind screen will get in the way.

Yes, there's plenty of room. If it's a huge skillet, just remove the screen.

I saw the Expedition model 2 burner w/griddle at Costco for $99 today.

Its hard to decide:

Denali three burner or the All Terrain Sports Stove

i'm not sure what "expedition stove" refers to since you seem to be just looking for a larger sized camp stove. i would think an expedition stove would be a multi fuel unit and nothing less. but that aside.

my two cents on the camp stoves you mention is that my camp chef all terain has been trouble free, robust, and more than sizeable enough for the full size cast iron i like to cook with. i have heard complaints about the hose being in the way, but honestly it has never interfered with my cooking.

just check on this thread.. thanks for the heads up..
I'll go tomorrow and hope they have any at the store...
I looked for it at costco online but did not find anything...

Thanks eh !!

If you don't find it......

and you really want it.....

PM me. I'll get you one from my local Costco and UPS it down. You pay actual costs.

The one on sale was that stove in the 2 burner model. LP only.

well duh! sheesh i'm thick sometimes. i was automatically going to some expedition type hardware thing in my head, something that could use a variety of fuel sources, including wood.
my only complaint about those stoves, with that style burner is the gas consumption and the size of the burner itself, my buddy has the big gas grill (same burners) and we have to sit the coffee pot offset over the burner area otherwise most of the flame only hits around the outside edge of the pot. other than that they are great stoves, built well and good control with the big knobs.

 It's all good. I originally figured the same thing, but it's just a different model than my Pro 90.

Addressing the gas consumption, we typically can run ours (all 3 burners) for 10 days worth of meals on one 20lb cylinder. I agree about the coffee pot, but since we have heavy leather gloves around our camp for various reasons, it's not that big of a deal. These stoves will boil a 24C coffee pot in about 5 minutes at freezing or below.

BIGNDN Thanks for the offer eh...:beer:
They have them in stock for.. 99.99
I was going to purchase one but,

I found the 3 burner model w/legs, griddle and bag for $125 on CL

Used once Im told.. I know this units are on the heavy side..

I was shooting for one of these:
Camp Chef ATS-50T

But it is true what you say about cooking in cold weather (on the 20's n teens)...
The smaller stoves have a hard time heating up water on cold temps add some wind, a few hungry folks in line and it takes even longer...

Decisions, decisions..........

On the ATS-50T, is the fuel line in the front? Thats an odd design.

It is but most reviews that I have read state it as a non-issue....
I'll keep shopping for this particular model....
