Used once Im told.. I know this units are on the heavy side..

Decisions, decisions..........

Hey, I was thinking about this. While the larger units are a bit on the heavy side, I bought a wheeled carry bag for mine. Basically, I just disconnect the LP tank, collapse the legs and put it in the bag. Then, with the wheels, it's really maneuverable and the weight is mitigated. Total weight of my Pro-90 is only 55lbs.

If you have the space for a bigger one, I don't know how you could go wrong.

Im with yah on the "can't go wrong part". ;)
I can totally see me using the bigger stove.....dang :grinpimp::grinpimp:
I do have the space trailer and all.;)
But that's just it, between climbing n biking gear for 4 to 5 peeps on each trip.....the load is just getting heavier and bigger...:crybaby::crybaby:
The thing still up for sale, I'll sleep on it till the end of the month and make a decision then.:hhmm:

Thanks for the input and the link..
It helps when others give yah a diff perspective.

Partner stoves rock. Tough as nails. We use them on rivers while rafting. Expensive, but I know when its time to whip up some curry chicken on the river they are going to work for me.

Tuff River Stuff

I also like the 20lb capacity for multi-day trips. Throwing away 1lb propane tanks sux because they just end up in the landfill. You can buy an adapter to fill the 1lb tanks from a 20lb tank, but is an extra step you can skip.

i have the ats-50t pictured above, also known as the all terrain. the hose coming out the front has never been an issue for me. i specifically wanted the smaller size and weight from the big camp chef stoves but still something bigger than your typical size camp stove. this all terrain still spits out 50k total BTU, so its no slouch in cold temps. it has legs that attach and has been the perfedct stove for me.

Guys, I picked up on this thread just in time. I was looking at a Coleman grill/burner combo that is nearly identical to the Campchef (linked below).

Coleman is a tad cheaper ($15). Can you tell me why Campchef is a better item vs the Coleman?

MS2G Rainier 2 Burner Grill Stove Combo - Camp Chef

Thanks!!

I wouldn't think there is much difference from the two you are comparing. I would call Camp Chef and ask what it the BTU output on that particular model.

That's the main reason why Im going for camp chef and the models mentioned above.

Good luck.

I think I am going to replace my Sears Hillery propane stove I have had for years with the new Camp Chef.

It looks like a good unit, and I already have the hose conversion and a 5 lb tank I have been using with my old stove.

Coleman

The Coleman grill combo has been by far the best grill I've had. I have a Camp chef weekender and am very interested in the new Denali and Rainer, but since my Coleman is still cooking along and it's served a ton of meals out west, I'm in no hurry to replace it.

Good luck.

Click on the reviews on the above URL.
I have seen that stove before too.
I always read the reviews though, and it has me leaning towards the Denali Campchef one.

True I do to but after the issues where correct (noted on website) it got great reviews. All these units look the same do you think all made same place and tops stamped differently.

Could be, so many things these days made in China in the same factory, then rebadged.

I got a Camp Chef outdoor camp oven and 2 burner stove for x-mas, and it looks like a very well made product. We live at 7400 ft.elevation, and camp @ 10,000ft + quite a bit, it will be interesting to see how it performs at altitude.

Post up on performance for the campchef....
I'll be planning to spend a few weeks in CO. and the higher BTU is the main reason for camp chef....

Thanks

OK, at 5000 feet and temps in the single digits to teens, mine works fantastic.

Just bought a new stove this morning, it will arrive tomorrow on Friday.
Denali 3 Burner Grill & Stove Combo
I got it cheaper though through Amazon, for $100.

This is a new line of stove from Camp Chef called the Mountain Series.
Mountain Series Stoves And Lanterns - Camp Chef

I went for the Denali one as it has a grille in the middle.
And like my 15 year old Sears propane stove, this has the piezo lighter so no matches or lighters are needed.
They have a video at the site too on this stove and others.

I was seriously looking at the Partner Steel brand of stoves, but they are around $255 for a two burner 18" stove with windscreen, and no auto start feature.
Those are very nice stoves, and made to be thrown around without any damage.
The way I look at it is the way I take care of my gear this new stove will last a very long time.
I am going to pass along my old one to my sons to use.
If they have no need for it, I may sell it here.

I will add this to my camping gear review thread after my first trip out this year on my thoughts on it.
I will try it out this weekend though at home to see how it works.

Also need to order anther roll of that non slip matting from Griots.
All of my tool boxes at home and in the rig are lined with it, and I am going to cut a section as big as the stove to prevent it from sliding around on top of the Cabelas kitchen gizmo I use.

i have a couple of stoves and old coleman multi fuel.. excellent stove it always works, and a primus gour-mate propane unit, the primus has a porcelin burner pan which cleans up so easy it is by far my favourite stove with the burner pan anything that spills over aint goin down in the bottom of the stove so that is a huge time saver when it comes to clean up... why not do what i do .. i always carry a second single burner stove just in case .. then if you just have to boil water you are not tying up the main stove .. i mostly just use my stove for breakfast anyway most meals are cooked on the fire
