Hi cruiserheads,
I have been searching around a bit, but always helps to have more eyes on the net. I am buying a set of 4, I already have a decent sized spare.

Q78-16LT, TSL Bias
Part #SST(SAM-53)

The best total price, I have found, including shipping is $1,151.96 @ http://www.4wd.com/ (Free shipping)

Anyone aware of any other places, or coupons/codes specials going on?
Shipping would need to be to USA 97338

Thanks,
Tyler

Hi all,

The TSLs on my FJ40 I bought several years over the phone from 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers, then they shipped the tires (for free) to my local 4WPW store.

Good luck,

Alan

Thank you Alan. I looked into 4WParts today, but the price still does not make up for the ~140 mile round trip to the closest store. I may call back and plea my want to buy local and see what they can do. Thanks

Thanks @mr jits ! I just walked out of Americas Tire in Salem and gettin the hook up. I told them I would rather shop local and they are helping me do so.

Hi all,

So Bax454 have you bought tires? How good a deal on TSLs were you able to find?

Regards,

Alan

Americas Tire, matched the price at 4wd.com, which is the best price I found online (with free shipping). So they matched the price and discounted the mount and balance (Which is going to be a pain I would imagine)

$1,153.00 for SAM-53 (Q78LT16's) BooYa

Also very happy I can support a local shop! They wanted by business and they got it! I just have to wait a couple few weeks to see my new pizza cutters!

Hi all,

Cool! :)

Let us know in a few months what you think of these new tires.

Regards,

Alan

Still working on the wheel selection.... taking awhile, but it may just end up being trail and error. In the mean time, my oldest is using the tires as a jungle gym.

Summit had old school smoothie rims. Just a thought.

@Josie'sLandCruiser - update you you!

Tested out the new tires this weekend. Saturday at Tillamook State Forest with my oldest 5yo daughter and Sunday at Sand Lake with my whole crew.

I am very happy with the tires, it pretty much made it a cake walk, yet we did not do anything technical and it was fairly dry in the woods. Need more testing, but thus far I don't think I would ever choose another tire. My 80 is not a daily driver, but it seems I still drive it 3-4 times a week for errands or to pick the kiddos up from school/daycare.

In the sand, aired down to around 12 seemed to be enough to sput around in the winding sandy tree trails. I even tried to get it tied up pretty well to get to know the tires on the sand a bit. All I did was run out of power unless it was a steep incline. No flotation, but it seemed to move forward instead of down while under power; again, unless I was on a steep incline.

The "Bias ply effect" is amplified a bit on a 6000 lbs rig and it is a bit narrower than society these days are used to. They do have some flat spots until you get down the road a couple miles. The one negative is hugely outweighed by the other benefits of 27/32" monster lugs! :) I did also get my caster corrected and for a 22 year old rig that I beat up on the woods all day, still drives right down the interstate for over and hour to get home with barely a knee on the wheel.

Another wheeler even made a quick video:
(My daughter is in the yellow shirt in the beginning)

Hi all,

Cool! Keep the pics and videos coming! ;)

Here is another video a guy posted on our run. I wish there was no music, but more pictures and footage than I took, which was none.
