I am sure I'm being dense, but I can't seem to find an answer. Probably right in front of me...

I have an '06 LX470 (manufactured 06/05). I'm having a problem with aftermarket TMPMS sensors not working - so I want to try OEM, to guarantee compatibility.

Is Denso 550-0191 OEM, just not Toyota/Lexus branded?

Or am I better off with Toyota/Lexus 42607-34012 (which, I think superseded 42607-34020 and then -33011)?

Is there a best place to buy (Mud discount)? Or just google best price?

Thanks!

I had a successful result buying TPMS sensors from Costco for my 07 Toyota Sienna the price and installation went smoothly . don't know anything about OEM

I used Denso on my 09 camry. I had a local tire shop install them and I programmed it myself with Techstream (make sure you write down all of the device ID's before they get installed since they need to be typed into Techstream. My 01 LX doesn't have TPMS. Aftermarket TPMS from what I read are reliable. All the shop has to do is get the correct sensor and program it with the same ID the old one is.

How long have you had your LX? If your tire light was on when you bought it, it's probably easier just to have all the sensors programmed back into your LX. The prior owner might have swapped wheels and now one or more of the sensors isn't programmed to your ECU. Some cars have a 2nd tire set button for winter tires, does your LX have that? If so press it, it might be looking for the a different set of sensors.

Also remember the spare tire has a sensor, and low pressure in the spare will set off the light (at least my 06 did)

Thanks guys. I ordered five Denso sensors earlier today. I'll update if successful.

My tire guy (100% trusted, but anyone can make mistakes) had issues getting the LX to recognize the aftermarket sensors. I ended up programming with Techstream. Worked for a few days, then stopped.

Going to test the denso sensors in a pressurized pvc pipe. I'm not 100% positive if it's a sensor or "receiver" issue...

@skipdup any update on the Denso sensors? what part number did you use?

@OEMGUY0720 Well, I've been distracted with family stuff. But, you're post kick started me back...

I toyed around some with it today. But, I'm afraid I've taken a few steps backwards. Have no idea what I'm doing, what's wrong, etc. :)

I put the denso sensors in a PVC pipe & pressurized to ~35psi. I entered in the sensor IDs for the 2nd set of tires using TechStream - leaving the 1st set alone. On the last one entered (was hurrying because it's timed) I noticed it didn't take the last digit. Don't know if it was doing that on the 4 previous ones or not.

The good news is the light is off (again). The bad news is my techstream will no longer show me the "Data List" under TPMS. The light stays off for both sets of tires, even after I deflated my pvc tube. So I have no confidence I've fixed anything. Suspect the next drive will give me a TPMS light again.

Anyone want to buy an '06 LX470? :)

TechStream finally let me see the Data List (after a few more tries???). Shows what I entered for each sensor, but no data. An old screen capture for reference attached.

Does anyone know how the ID works on these?
The 2 numbers etched into the sensor... The top one is too short and the bottom one is too long.

Starting to wonder if I have the wrong sensors. But the Denso site seems to say I have the right ones...
Denso Part#: 550-0191 (To 07/2006)
Date on LX door/VIN sticker: 06/05

Thanks,

I have the same build month 06/05 and had the same problem last year, got the denso 550-0191 and couldn’t get it to sync. Ended up getting a factory unit on amazon 42607-33011 and it worked great. I also noticed that it had pmv-107j which is the same marking as the denso 550-0103. This year I got new tires and replaced the remaining four sensors with denso 550-0103 and was able to sync them before going to the tire shop with techstream. On some of them I did have to wake them up by blowing air through the valve like I was airing up a tire.
