Got my 240s in and already have an Fj fog light switch in. What's the best place to pass the wires through the firewall?

Thru the side of main harness grommet, get a skewer and push a small hole thru, then add some dishwashing liquid as a lubricant and push wire thru, nice and tight seal, no tears in grommet. There maybe a spare/unused tit on the main grommet, was on mine but mine is different country/engne, have a good look/feel.

I don't think there is any spare room in the grommet hole, unless someone more talented than me has figured it out. You will need to cut a small slit in that grommet and push through with wire taped to a screw driver.

Adding lube for a tight fit is never a bad idea :-)

That's what I thought, I gave it a pretty good look and nothing really jumped out at me. It was a little different then the Swiss cheese firewall in my 40, lol. Thx guys

Do what 100 TD said. i did this for my IPFs, go around the side, not through the main hole. then you will not have to cut. Like previously stated, going on the outside of the grommet will be very tight and seal back up.

^but wouldn't that leave your wire right up against the sheet metal, which could potentially cut right through your wire? or rip the sheathing off when you try to pull it through the hole?

it would, but 1- i wrapped the wire where it goes through, and 2, the metal on the fire wall there is pretty smooth, on mine at least. Good point though.

This thread was very helpful... except instead of a skewer, I just grabbed a flat head screwdriver and stick it through the grommet to make room for the wire.

1: Go under your steering wheel... locate the giant rubber grommet going through the firewall.
2: Stick a flat head screwdriver under the outer edge of the grommet - push towards the center to get your screwdriver closer to the actual hole / opening.
3: Push screwdriver through grommet by just a little (<1/4 inch) - you'll know when you've gone through as you'll start to see light (assuming your hood is open)
4: Stick whatever wires through the opening as needed.

Now, if only I could find a very easy to access (aka EXPOSED) ACC-ON 12v lead.
