Looking for aftermarket lights to mount on my front bumper/brush guard. Looking for one that is offroading use primarily. Just need 2 probaly 6'' maybe 8'' if they'll fit on the front.

Which brands are the best, (PIAA, KC, Hella, Pro Comp, IPC) to use on an 80?

Go upgrade your harness from sleeoffroad and then we can talk about brands.

Some folks seem to be brand loyal on lights. I just buy cheap ones when I feel the need to put them on.

My 80 will have some underbody lighting (non-neon :)) for night wheeling/repairs at Tellico and some small lights on the front tabs for side illumination.

I just put a pair of Hella FF1000's on my Fj60, 7" round. Very nice.

Anybody ever have any experience with the Warn lights? They seems pretty nice, but they cost an arm and a leg.

phatairman,

I have seen a pair of them that were identical to a pair of IPF's (can't recall the model numbers of either one).

Anyway that might explain their cost.

nyk,

How much were you planning (willing) to spend on a pair?

I like Cibie, personally....currently using Oscar SCs (One 'LP' on the DS, one VA on the PS). Not that pricey (about $110 each), good lens quality, 7" round. Lot's of folks here run IPFs and Hella, too.

Around $300 for a pair of round lights to mount on the bumper.

Ooops!
I just realized that it was KOITO and not IPF. Sorry for the confusion.

But, for $300, you should be able to find a pair of quality aux. lights. Let us know what you end up getting.

I run some PIAA 80XTs with 120 watt bulbs and they work just fine...price was free for me, as I got 'em from a buddy. I've also run the $40 each Pro Comp 130s (8") with good results for the price, and you don't cry when/if they get hit by a rock.

I have the Lightforce 240 and I really love them, they are 9.5". But they also have the 170 which is 6.6". The good thing is that you can go from pencil beam to a spot just by turning the lens. Check them out at

I've got the PIAA 520 or 540 fog lamps mounted using the existing stock bumper bolt. Have an ok pic on home computer I'll try to post up for you.

I've had Hella 7" driving/fog lights mounted on the brush guard for a couple of years now. The quality is not that great as the chrome reflectors inside have peeled and it's brown now...

$300? For that kind of cash you can nearly pick up a set of new PIAA HID fog lights!

I have Warn lights on my 100. Very solid, great light, and yea, expensive. On our 80 we have hella lights, pretty thin so they fit on the stock 80 using existing bolts. The warn lights are much higher quality, and have a better light output, you get what you pay for.

I have the IPF JO1's. They are costly, but I like them alot. Too bad they come with a real crappy switch.

Hey Junk,

I spilt the loom on the JO1 swith and used two of the Toyota (camry) swithes in empty spots to the left of the steering wheel. One swith for the fogs, on for the driving. Let me know if you want more info, I belive I made a note of which wires go to what in the JO1 loom.

hmm, that's a great idea. Yeah, if you can find your notes, please send them to me. I'll have trouble finding a place for more switches, which is why I never bothered, but I can make some new holes in the dash. Thanks.
