The MSD offroad coil is just a regular coil that potted to keep it from falling apart inside from the vibrations. It sounds about as usful as dealer rustproofing but it costs like 3 bucks more so i guess it couldnt hurt.

Plus the sticker says offroad on it. Must be better.

Stay stock. My buddie thought he was doing good by "upgrading" to the MSD, but now his cruiser doesn't run becuase of the box. In my 3FE I use the stock stuff with no problems. They lasted almost 20 years already. I would think that the perceived gains are very minimal from the "upgraded" components. Not worth it IMHO. Good luck.

I dont see any reason not to run a higher voltage coil though, a hotter spark is always good, and there are a LOT more low resistance/more electronic noise suppresion wires on the market than OEM toyota.

The only problem i could see would be if the change in resistance somehow screwed up the voltages that the electronic igniter module s***ter uses to run on. Ive had an MSD coil in mine for a while and it makes it feel a little stronger down low and doesnt screw anything up (i realized my plug gaps were a little wide according to the manual, so my solution was a better coil instead of manual labor).
