best fuel additive

from what I have read: canola oil. 
I use a dash of canola at each fillup and in colder weather I add a diesel additive that has anti Gel and cetane boost.My 3b cruiser has never failed to start,albeit a few rough start symptoms in very cold weather but it does not last very long .I have put the cruiser away for the winter and am heading to FL Sat.So much rain and sleet today I cannot go to shed to read the label on the stuff I use??

What else can I think of to say where you can't PROVE me wrong in a court of law (if I stuff your engine)?

- Acts as a rust-inhibitor within your fuel tank
- Lubricates fuel-injection components
- Used by mining companies in the harshest conditions in Western Australia
- Retailers nationwide

Oh crap, I think we just perjured ourselves.
The title is "fuel additive", which clown is going to add diesel to a petrol engine on our advice?
I read that about 2% clean biodiesel mixed with the new ultra low sulfur diesel is better than most if not all the additives to increace the lubricity of the fuel (long injector pump life). I use a commercial additive Diesel-Guard, that Cantol used to sell us for our large marine engines (5000hp+), but as it's no longer availiable (and was VERY expensive) I am changing over to PRI-D, it seems to work very well (I have been using it to stabilize stored diesel for a few years now) and has some good solid testing to back it up.

I would like to use Canola oil as an additive, but it is too darn expensive now. Like 2$ / liter and you will likely need at least 1 jug of 3L per tank. That's 6$ each fill..!!
If I can find a non-food grade Canola oil at a cheaper price I would use it in a heartbeat, but where is it??

I get used canola from the local chip stand, then simply clean and dry it.

Compressed air.
Seriously, I have used Standyne products. However, I find biodiesel works nicely. Just it isn't available locally and I am not likely to be carrying it with me on road trips.
