I used to have a California Car Cover for my 2012 Mustang at it was really nice. Cost about $300 though.

They probably have covers to fit the FJ40, but if they don't they can cut one for you, or cut it to accommodate things like larger spare tires etc.

Yes they do and they are nice. Mine finally ripped after 3 years and 11 months (4 year warranty). And they replaced it for the price of shipping. The rip was my fault too. They can add pockets for mirrors too extra tie down points, pretty much whatever you want.

Interesting. I wonder if they would custom make one for a troopy? My poor troopy will never fit in the garage unless I let the air out of the tires...

the 78 fj40 I picked up a few years ago had been sitting outside in Western WA for 5 years under a SOR(pretty sure) cover.....the cover was toast(not going to take it on and off again) by then but the 40 was like new under it. I would say it did its job much better than any tarp would have

I'm looking at covers in JC Whitney as I've got a 20% off coupon

Of course their website asked for make & model. I put 2000 Jeep TJ as I figure it's probably similar in size and shape.

Brands they offer are Covercraft, Smitybuilt and Wolf.

Anyone know if this will fit?

Geez, $OR wants $420 bones for a Deluxe Car Cover

Check to see what Trollhole offers.

Comparison between jeep tj and fj40.

I will say i bought a walmart jeep cover. Probably similar to those jcwhitney offers... it leaked like crazy and ripped easily. Crap compared to the california car cover. But you pay for what you get at about 400 bucks for the highest quality.

I'm looking to buy a car cover for FJ40 with Hardtop on.

It will be shared between my 1962 FJ40 and my 1981 FJ40.

Any suggestions and pics always welcome!

KY - I may have one that I would let go, being that I don't use it. When I bought my rig, I think there was a cover that came with it. I'll look tonight and if it is a FJ40 cover, I'll take a photo and send it your way.

My Cruiser has been parked outside for the last 18 years, being protected by the Covercraft NOAH cover. You can see from the photo of my rig that the cover has worked pretty darn well. It lasts about 4 years, but comes with a 4 year warranty. I sent mine back just short of 4 years due to a rip, and they replaced it with a new one.

These covers are built to order, and exactly fit the shape of the FJ40. However, there is no mirror pocket. I got mine from Carbytes.com (no affiliation), and have been very happy with their service. Here are some details from my order:

ITEM: Covercraft Custom Fit Car Cover: 1980 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER BASE 2-DOOR WITHOUT MIRROR POCKETS (NOAH - NH Gray) Size T2
CODE: C464NH
PRICE: 289.97
Shipping: (standard): $0.00

KY - Here is a cheap option, and probably won't last like the others. Being that said, I have a new, it appears to have never been unrolled, Classic Accessories cover. I'm not even sure the model number, so I'm not 100% certain it is even for an FJ40 type vehicle.....But it came with my rig and has been sitting on my shelf, taking up space ever since.

Oh, it is the gray thing in the photo. :)

I have the NOAH cover from California Car Cover. It is awesome and can be customized with mirror pockets I believe. Cost was around $300 a few years back. They have lots of fabric options too, some more $, some less $.

Rock-N-Roll !
