I have a chance to buy a 2008-2014 gasoline V8 LC or Lexus LX from Dubai. My LC options are models with the 4.6 1UR-FE engine and KDSS or with the 3UR-FE and AHC. 200 Lexus LX goes only with the 3UR-FE engine and AHC, if I am not mistaken.

Which one would you chose if your prime concern was comfort on- and off road (mild to moderate).

Thanks:)

I have the 4.6 with KDSS.. I've found it equally as brilliant as the 2UZFE 4.7 before it and the KDSS is marvellous. I prefer it to my wifes 570, I love AHC too but the 4.6 cruiser seems lighter and less complex in all regards. The American members might not be able to weigh in on the 4.6, they don't get it in the 200.

I also chose the 4.6 over the Turbo diesel as I didn't want DPF, Turbo, Injector and oil burning issues down the line.

Thanks for your view. I hate diesels, so they are non-starters for me;)

How crucial is comfort for you. May be you are a healthy young man unlike myself - a 72-years old with a bad back :(

How does your 4.6 KDSS compare to your wife's LX 200 AHC for comfort?

I have an AHC equipped 200 (LX570). Every single passenger I have comments on how smooth the ride is. Not just for a truck/SUV, but for any vehicle. I also just moved to 18" wheels and high profile tires, which helped some too.

Any suspension will have tradeoffs, AHC is not excluded (load capacity, ultimate off-road, maintenance required).

Cheers, mate:) I can live with the tradeoffs provided I get maximum possible comfort.

You can always look to install an airsprung seat. . . . The LX seat has lumbar and leg, as well as the usual other adjustments, but it isn't airsprung.

I always found AHC choppy and never quite right. It's always a fraction behind to me. Either to wafty, too rigid or too unsettled and when the adjustments have been calculated or you have changed a setting, the terrain is different again. It's very good but it always feels like it's hunting to me, for the perfect damping rate.

OK, Mack, how would you rate AHC vs KDSS for comfort, and comfort only?

I think you would be hard pressed to find any vehicle with a softer ride than the LX570 especially if you go to 18” wheels from the 20”.

That settles it than. LX570 with 18" wheels is the truck for me:) Thanks to all who replied!
