I know there are a bunch of you out there with two post lifts, I thought of it but I don't have the height, and don't plan on staying in this house for ever. (although I know I could un-bolt and remove a post hoist).

I have been looking at the scissor style hoists, and it looks to me like Bend Pak makes a decent one. I plan on doing a frame off on my 40 very shortly, and would like to have this tool to help me do it. I also have a number of other vehicles that would get lifted here and there, but the 60 & 40 would be the largest I would lift.

Anyone have any experience with the Bend Pak lifts? the one I am looking at is the MD-6XP, cost of ~$1600 with free shipping. (may be cheaper places, I havn't really price searched that hard yet.

Thoughts appreceated - please keep in mind that I won't be using this thing as an every day service station type hoist - but I do want it to last me a while. I really like the ease of portability.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks.

My buddy has one that is like that in his shop. Does fast jobs like front long travel desert cars but that's only suspeions and lift doesn't get in the way. And one good thing about them is you could move it around. But not the easiest job to . No much of a fan of them. kinda hard to work on drive train with it

Cant help feeling that it needs a bigger base. Sometimes jobs on corners require a lot of pullling and shoving.
If you dont need it very often, maybe some HD axles stands and a big trolley jack would be cheaper and easier to move about.

I Figure the way I would use it (when doing drivetrain stuff) is to use it to raise the vehicle, then set the vehicle down on large stands. Floor jacks only go so high, and I find them a real pain when (a) in tight spaces like my garage and (b) when lifting an entire car. (one side, then the other, then back to the first... etc) Most of the work I would be doing is brakes, wheels, and oil changes (keep in mind I drive more than just a cruiser!) I guess the biggest thing for me is not having to permanently install something, and the ability to run it at 120V.

Eventually, when I build my "big shop" I'll put a post hoist in, I just really don't have the height here.

Reviving an old thread. I was mildly curious about scissor lift as I'm truly getting tired (and achy) with working under vehicles. I mostly work on non 80 series vehicles so they're 5k weight. However, his lift can handle 6600# which makes me think I *might* be able to put my 80 on it after I lose some weight (RTT, empty of all water, empty out the drawers, etc). Of course, there'll be four tall jack stands to support each corner of the 80 since I'll be on the ragged edge for this instance.

Anyway, just wanted some feedback on this unit or similar units with similar cap. Part me wants a high rise vs this mid rise and pay the extra coin. Titan Lifts PREMIER Series SL-6600 Mid Rise Scissor Lift

I have a 2 post lift in my pole barn and I love it!
Every day I give it a hug and Kiss.
Why?
Because I can lift my vehicles and work from the front to back with NO obstructions, like a center post of scissors mechanism has.

If They had these types of lift when I was growing up I would have made a different career choice for sure.

My second choice would be the 4 post lift that serves as a stackable parking spot. like these
No recommendation here just offering the style Idea.

Oh I get it man, I get it. 2 post lift is the shiznit but not doable in my current space. Looking for something that I can store in the garage then park on top of it. When I need it, I can drag it outside, if I have to.
