Hey there guys, hoping someone could give me some direction on this.....
I finally got the second alternator for my 83 BJ60. Its a 130amp Brushless Delco (its freeken huge, ill post a pic...) Now on Diesel Dudes advice I am going to mount it in the stock AC spot off my block. HOWEVER, to get power to it (IE a belt) I am a bit unsure of what to do....
If I look at the pulleys on the crankshaft, I can see that there are two shivs. One going to the fan and steering pump, and one going to the stock alternator/vac pump.
the second shiv has an integrated spacer built into it, I am assuming in an AC version of this truck this spacer was replaced with a third shiv, so there would be a belt for the fan/steering, a belt for the alt/vac and a belt for the AC.
NOW the problem is.... before I just start pulling my rad off, a friend of mine told me on his toy truck (gasser) in order to pull off just one pulley he had to start screwing around with oil seals, pulleys with special hole patterns, and funny threading etc....
Is the same true for a 3B? Do I have to use an OEM pulley, or can I just through any old shiv on there with out too much hassle.......
Also does anyone know what size of belt the stock AC pulley used? is it the same size as all of the other pulleys? because my new alt uses a dual pulley. I will run it with just one if I have too, but I bet that means I cant pull 100% capacity out of it....
Any suggestions or comments?
