when i replaced mt alternator with a re-man'd one, i noticed the pully was slightly smaller, width-wise, than the original. since i had to change it in the parking lot, i didnt have the gear puller that i normally would have.
in short, the smaller pully wears the belt alot faster. im driving with a three inch
chunk missing out of the belt, while i wait for the new belt to come in.
when i get the OEM belt, how do i tension it correctly, to minimize the wear that the small pully causes.?
should i try to get the right pully, tho' i have to measure the shaft dia. because i dont know if the one i took out was oEM.

anyone have an old one? I'll trade it for a waterpump that need rebuilding

Get The correct pully the small one will keep messing up your belts. Also it is not spinning as fast with a small pully (underdrive) hence, less performance from alternator.

pully is the same size, only narrower.

Pulley is the same OD, but the belt rides up higher in the skinny groove. This increases the effective diam. of the pulley, reducing alt RPM's.

Somebody here will sell you a cheap used pulley off a junk alternator.

They're still available new from Toyota for about $40.
