are all the belts at the right tension? (e.g., half an inch of play) On the 3FE you have to adjust tension on the alternator to get the inner belt only right then adjust the idle pulley on the left to get the big belt right. It is quite easy to overtighten the inner belt at the alternator trying to get the big belt tension correct. This could cause many problems.
