Well after hurting myself I have some time on my hands and have been power watching house and automotive electric like crazy. Been diving deep into solar conversions on top of that. What solar set up have people seen that seems to make the most sense for us weekend warriors.?

Also on another note, my other obsession is to build a hydro blasting cabinet. Then there is my house inspection course I started before Covid, pretty cool BC Canada is leading the race in most efficient homes in the world by 2032. You guys should watch and follow some of the new building practice, truly eye opening on how we have built houses for the past few centuries. One of the homes in Vancouver is over 5000 square feet and can be heated with a hair drier, the mechanical rooms have shrunk to a small closset.

Anyways what about the solar for us weekend warriors.

This is Will Prowse‘s website. He has YouTube videos as well. His knowledge is real and he
is very practical.

My personal need would be to keep batteries topped up for my fridge. I’m liking a small portable
system, 200W with a 20A Renogy MPPT controller. This would be simple and effective.
I like this set of folding portable 100W. Canadian company sells through Amazon.ca.

We've been thinking about it. We have a lot of South facing roof area at a decent angle.

I'd just do grid tie and not worry about batteries. Debate I have is whether to gradually add to the system or bite the bullet and spent the 10-20k all at once. Probably better that way and get the rebates...

First I want to **** around with a wind generator. Mainly for fun and a lathe project.

Used to mess with them all the time.

I’ve got south and west facing roofs. My idea is to just tie into the hydro system.
We will be putting in a heat pump or something since summers here are now as
hot as the south. If battery technology gets affordable but it’s not necessary as i
see it.

I just went through Wills website. There is quite a substantial forum.

FYI - the Power Systems forum here on MUD has some extremely knowledgeable guys.
There are a couple of guys from California and Australia that I’d say know anything a person
would need to know about setting up a mobile off-road system.
