Hi - first post, was hoping it would be with some completed pics, but just getting started and need advice from someone who has installed a Becky rear tire mount from ACC garage.
I have holes drilled and I lined up the mount. The top four mounts spots line up flush to the door, but the bottom two are about 1/4-3/8 away from the door. Is this normal? I’m afraid if I tighten it up like this the door edge will bend.

One of the guys isn't on here but this is what he said
"I'm not on there. Tell him to loosen all bolts and get all bolts started. then tighten slowly together. Eric and I both have small "dents" from the mount. But it's solid once on there."

Thanks... that makes me feel better about continuing this weekend. While I was waiting I got rid of some other stuff... so not a total waste :)

No worries. Hit up GXOR group on Facebook, people tend to me more active there, and quite a few have done the Becky. I like this forum, lots of good info, but for quick responses, nothing seems to beat the FB group

Late to the party but there was some gap on the bottom when I installed mine. Loosen up the top bolts a bit before doing the bottom 2 bolts. I used a wood clamp to pull the bottom part against the door to drill the holes and bolt them on. Then tightened all the bolts down. Then you should be good to go.

Thank you. I got the four bolts in and tight. I’ll try the wood clamp trick tomorrow to get the bottom bolts in. It was “fun” getting those suckers lined up. Glad my son came home when he did or I’ld still be wrestling with it.

Yeah it's really a 2 person install. I did it with a friend and we installed mine and his in the same day.

Why not use some stainless washers? Best fit is to have no resistance, IMHO.
It need to sit against the door as it strengthens the door while it sits on the ramp which supports the weight. A gap in that would cause it to not function properly.

Wondering if the gap was intended by design to compensate for added weight or a design flaw.

seriously doubt it's a design flaw, they tested this design for a while before releasing it. if anything I'd say it might be tolerances in the manufacturing.

As Ebbs said there are going to be differences in the doors and the install on each door. The bottom piece of the mount is suppose to protrude below the door about an 1/8" if I recall the instructions correctly.
