The motor has plenty of torque and has been known to last several hundred thousand miles. We have a friend with the same vehicle who has 298k miles and has yet to replace its transmission or engine. These vehicles that are well maintained will last a very very long time. It delivers plenty of performance around town and on the Interstate. This engine runs strong, has lots of power and torque and does not have any leaks or issues at all. Take a look at the motor picture, it looks new!
Transmission/Transfer Case: A smooth automatic transmission coupled with a quite transfer case makes driving a synch in this cruiser. Everything in operation is quiet and works beautifully. There are no leaks or problems with either the transmission or 4x4 system.
Body/paint:The exterior body and paint are supurb. This truck has been well taken care of during its life. The body does not have any noticable issues a small scratch on the rear corner bumper, hardly noticable. Litterally this vehicle is in Mint Condition. The paint is extremely reflective, shiny and has tons of luster. The truck has been regularily washed and waxed during its life. This is factory OEM paint never in an accident.
Interior: Incredibly clean, no rips, tears, cracks or issues at all. All seats are supreme. Since the land cruiser has never been in a dirt environment and always in a dry climate (Arizona and San Diego CA) the carpet is beautiful. All doors open and close easily inside/out, the door panels and interior as a whole are like new and do not have tears or cuts. The dash is in great shape doesn't need anything replaced.
Interior Controls/switches: Excellent condition, no cracks problems or issues at all. Everything works including all lights, guages, clock, stereo etc. The radio knob is missing but is a simple find on ebay.
Tires/Wheels: The tires are Michilin all seasons with plenty of tread remaining. The wheels are factory and in excellent shape (a few minor scratches but no curb rash). The small center caps have some faded paint and a little bit has rubbed off but the tires have lots of life and the wheels are in excellent condition.
Frame/Undercarriage: Both the frame and undercarriage are solid do not have any rust at all.
Drive train/Suspension: The truck is stock and drives excellent. Brakes are tight no squeaks, rattles or noises underneath. 4x4 works on the fly and the Toyota drives like it came off the lot. There are no vibrations or leaks, tracks straight down the road.

Why do you guys always knock the price. It is his truck, he can ask what he wants.

Try to locate another 48k mile 80 series in that shape. It might not be worth $27k to you, but it might be to someone. As for being $15k overpriced, that is not a $12 truck. I can assure you.

PS, I don't know who the owner is, but I would congratulate him on taking care of it like that for 12 years and not piss on him since he values his truck.

That is a good looking truck.

About 2 years ago, a guy in Eldorado Hills had a 97 with 30k miles for sale. It was perfect in every way. He bought it new and just ended up not driving it. He was asking $30k so I passed, but I almost wish I had bought it for historical reasons. The last and best of the breed.

Im sorry if I offended anyone, There are collecters out there who may pay almost 30 grand for a clean used (12 yo) truck, perhaps its just the average guy in me, but even if I were WEALTHY I would look into one with a few more miles and options for ALOT less money. Perhaps the Barret Jackson auto auction or the DuPont registry would be better forums to sell a vehicle of this caliber. Now if he wants to give me 20 grand trade in then we can talk!

1) The Land Cruiser is only listed at the following sites:
A. Craigslist - free
B. Ebay
C. Here - free

2) 2 car collectors means two owners!

The car is currently owned by a car collector in california. I am not a dealer only helping a friend.

Q) What is Autocheck?
A) Autocheck is just like Carfax a history reporting agency for cars! Auto check.com last recorded mileage was 40,000 on this land cruiser.

The vehicle has 48048 current miles, perhaps when the next re-registration occurs the mileage reported will change!

3) A cruiser collector who saw it on ebay recommended I list it on here.

4) Is this a collector? To many people yes, but to others no. Just like anything else.
Is the price out of line? It depends on what you are looking for.

THE PRICE LISTED IS OBO - So if you are a serious buyer and want to chat lets chat if not God Bless.

Here is the issue I have with this posting, and indeed he can list it for $40,000 if he/she wanted right? As they say there's a sucker born every minute. Anyway, I digress, this seller is not the owner, but rather a dealer, they just joined to list this thing and are trying to make a buck off us by posting it here.

They are in essence hi-jacking the site for profit motive. That's my beef. And no matter what, it's a used car! and an pretty flipping old used car at that! IMO, it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. And I would be incredibly surprised if it sells for much more than $15k. Duh, look at the economy, whadda going to take out a home equity loan to buy this thing? Bank gonna loan you the dough? Uh-uh!

1) How long has the rig been in California? If it has Arizona plates and is in California for more than a certain amount of time, that's a no-no for any potential california buyer (i.e. penalty when registering with DMV). Does this rig have AZ title?

2) Were the seat controls on the driver seat replaced? I notice they are black when they should be tan (like the passenger side).

Just an FYI

An '97 LX450 with lockers and 35K miles just sold for $17K. It looked like it was fresh off the showroom in '97.

Daaamn. That is the lowest mileage I have seen on one of those 80s.

New price $19999

After further consideration and speaking with the owner of this vehicle he thought it would be best to place a more aggressive price on the vehicle. 27 was a bit high but we had a good number of responses and feedback but as many have mentioned a bit high during this economic trend.

So the new price is $19,999

If interested contact me, thanks

Wow, I'm gonna sell my Super Extra Clean 94 LC with over $9000 in aftermarket parts and I'm gonna ask $30K, LOL. Just for fun. Just to see If I find one of those suckers out there that would pay for a nice FJ80 that ridiculous amount of money even thought is a 14 years old vehicle. Live the Dream, LOL.
