Hello and happy new year, I just joined as I just picked up a 2005 gx470 with 133k and nice service record, was garage kept, speakers are fine but I am an audio guy, i know my way around wiring and have been conteplating buying a gx for a while, ideally wanted one with no nav to avoid the climate control issues but to find one the way I wanted( 2005+ grey interior, light blue, under 140k mile, for less than 13k, non nav as mentioned) had become almost impossible. My family is growing and need a secondary car for mountain and weekend adventures and saw this deal and jumped on it. Now with the little background out the way this one i bought comes with nav and ML. I've read about the two options, (not interested in the Tesla style head unit), Beat Sonic MVA-81 and the groom Vline which I read is really crappy for the 2005 resolution. My question is has anyone gone all out with the MVA-81, I've owned toyotas all my life and am familiar with a lot of the harnesses, my last build was for my avalon with the jbl system where I ran a 12 channel Dsp for the 12 speakers which were all replaced powered by 3 4 channel amps actively and added a single 12 subwoofer. Has anyone tried anything like this with the MVA-81 and had success or will I have to go in blind and see what happens? I'm interested in MVA-81 integration with possible flip out screen single din, by passing ml amp and full speaker replacement with series and passive components as well as adding a subwoofer with good end result.

Why would you not just do the nav to non-nav swap? It appears you are pretty familiar with wiring and the 05 hvac controls are easier to find than the later years. Then run whatever you want.
I currently have an Android unit installed with factory amp. I have bought a 5 channel amp to install eventually. I started with a non-nav 05.

This is a great point, and i actually considered this before buying but in an apples to apples the mva-18 is the cheaper alternative than the wire reroute and purchase of the HVAC panel, and for my purpose doing that would only solve the mva-18 work around and put the radio in a slightly better position, but I'd be about $300 or more in the hole compared to the beat sonic when I start moving forward from there to the ML amp. In all honesty running the radio lower now considering my situation is a bit better option as I sometimes play YouTube and movies on lunch break more now with the no dinning at restaurants or at even at work now, I can make it a bit more enjoyable parking on the street and eating a bite without everyone seeing my screen. I also had an Android radio in my Avalon prior to the pioneer, and when you run more amps and better speakers you can tell the android head unit don't do well over 60% total volume due to the low output voltage, add to that the eventual lag and freezing. For those reasons I ignored the Tesla style screen for this vehicle. Here's a picture of my avalon android unit when I installed it, 2 years after that I removed it the issues became annoying.

Im also going to post in the classified section, but i have a brand new unopen beat-sonic mva-18 for the gx470. 240 shipped. Pm me if you’re interested. Thanks.

Those chinese screen replacements are garbage. So is Grom but it's the least s***ty of all options.
