I tightened up my belts hoping they were the cause of the ringing/whistling sounds....

Seems the ringing is coming from one or all of the accessories. Is there a kit to replace the bearing on the pulleys or am i looking at having to buy new parts? I havent had any issues with the accessories but the noise is driving me nuts....

Not sure what you mean by the accessories but you can try to narrow it down by using a long screwdrive like a stethoscope. Place the flat end on the item your checking out and put your ear to the other end(Key is long screwdriver). You will be able to isolate where the noise is comming from.

noise

i had a noise in the front of my engine kind of like you described. two weeks after discovery of the noise my alternator went belly up. it might be wise to cut the problem off before your driving home on the battery, or worse. it was recomended to me to take off the belts and turn pullies and see what you get. i wish i did. now i wait for alternator in mail. happy hunting

I use a small metal bar. I had a similar issue for a couple of weeks and could not isolate it. So I figured it might be the water pump even though I had no signs of weeping. I changed it out and sure enough it was the problem.

hope this helps, same thing happened to me. i used a long thin hose, kept one end by my ear, the other end near the pulleys or bearings. quickly traced the squeal to the idle pulley, i believe that's how it's called, replaced the bearing and no more squealing after that. at least it was a quick and cheap fix.
