In doing a front disk conversion on a 1974 (adding 1978 front disk setup) I have a question on knuckle bearing preload.
One birf/side worked out perfect 5lbs of load with a fishscale in all directions.
The other birf/side (FYI-drivers) came out low at 2lbs, did I use too many shims? I need to get the load up.
I have the toyota oem manual and the special tool (borrowed from a buddy)to align the angles shims. This tool served useless, you need to be a farkin engineer to understand the angles. What a nightmare. I even brought a buddy who is a toyota mechanic at the dealer. He laughed when I showed him where the book started referencing all kinds of angles and formulas. He suggested just put it together and drive it. It if wobbles, fix it. Get it aligned and go with it.
Thanks for any tips.
Aaron
