They are not designed for people that do not want to deal with the maintenance that may be required to keep your tire secured to the wheel properly. Most people have a difficult enough time to remember to check the engine oil, let alone to pay attention to their wheels and tires, or any other critical system of their vehicle.....

Let me rephrase that, They are not legal for the road because of the lack of maintenace people tend to have.

What does Leagality have to do with mainteneance?

If I don't torque the lugnuts properly and a wheel falls off the truck does that make any wheel not legal?

No, but it would make you liable.

How about the inner tube design that was tested in the toyota magazine, they aired them down side hill the hell out of them and could not get them to break a bead.

Any other real world exposure to these bead locks?

Id like to hear more about these from mudders also. The cost is pretty dang reasonable and seem to work great. I am a little confused on how the original valve stem works with a big doughnut in the way though.

Good point, I never considered that issue.

Not one mention in the write up about the valve being obstructed??

Kinda cool how it does not cause balancing issues.

IIRC there is a tube from the original valve stem around the inflatable lock to the rest of the tire.

I bought a complete wheel/tire/inflatable lock deal from Junk. His opinion on them is here on MUD in several places. 80 series non-US steel wheels, 36x13.5x16 TSL's and Tyrelock inflatable locks. Seemed to work fine on the trips he or I used them. Only downside I've seen so far is they're kinda heavy. But then the biggest tire I've used before these was a set of Q78 TSL's on stock FJ60 wheels and no locks. I like'm: YRMV...

So you are saying that you broke 50 bolts every 2 weeks with your allieds?

Correct.

Do a trip for a week, or 2 weeks, replacing bolts daily.

And I have been fitting, and using beadlocks for over 10 years, so understand the product, and also understand design issues.......

Love those wheels Christo.

I would like a set, but I need 2 sets right now. That would be big $. I am going to make 1 set 16 x 8 in steel on my own modeled after the hummer style rim. true double bead locks. If they work on my mini truck I plan to slice the factory 80 series wheels up and do the same thing. I also like the staun setup too. The benefits of the hummer style rim seem the to be the best for me. Too bad they are 16.5"
