Looking for opinions on beadlocks. I’m trying to decide between replacing my wheels with something like the Allied beadlocks or installing Staun internal beadlocks in my current wheels. Aside from rock crawling and snow driving, I drive my FJ40 on the street occasionally so wheel balancing is an issue. Price is not an issue as I want what’s going to work best. Are standard beadlock wheels really that hard to balance? Do the Staun internal beadlocks hold the bead as well as a standard beadlock? Any reason(s) to stay away from one or the other? Any advantage that one has over the other? Any other info would be appreciated. :confused:
 
I was leaning towards a standard black wheel and interior inflateable beadlocks. Locks both sides of the wheel. Not sure on prices or availability, I haven't done much research yet.
 
I have Allieds Beadlocks, They work great. I have had them since July 05, Put some Krawlers on them, and threw them on my 80. Went on a few trails since then. Ive never lost a bead. I do seem to loose about 2lbs of pressure per tire per month, But I also use it as a DD. and living in Arizona, it gets 20deg in the morning and 80 in th afternoon. So I figure its normal.
If you do Choose Allied, I used High Impact out of Ca. They will answer all of your questions, and concerns. It takes about a month to build the rims, and a few more days to ship them. Just make sure you get the correct backspacing.

I got the 10" rims and had to get custom 3" studs cause the rims wouldent fit with the extra backspacing.
I dont know much about the staun beadlocks,
only down side on the allieds, is the Rims are not DOT.
In the end, it only matters what you like.

DOT is a fallacy..

Staun will allow you to use your current rims and will lock both inner and outer beads they are pretty nice actually.
 
treeroot has the allieds and no issues with tire pressure loss that i'm aware of. he's been satisfied iwth them. i like the idea of the stauns...just not the price

I'd buy some double beadlocks from stazworks. Similar to the Rock Monsters but much more customizeable.

USA 6x6 has Humvee wheels and Beadlocks and they will recenter them for whatever backspacing you want. Also they can set them up for different bolt patterns.

I have humvee wheels and I wouldn't use anything else.

I have not heard any good things about 6x6. Only thing I don't like about H1 wheels is the excessive weight of the rims.
 
I guess I keep forgetting that my rig is Cummins Powered and weight doesn't matter to me.
 
It is not the motor of a rig that makes hummer rims bad. It is how strong the axles are. Heavier rims/tires means more boomage inthe axle dept.

running 17 x 10 monster allieds on my truck, with 39.5 x 16.5 pitbull rockers, had beadlocks years ago, had stauns for the last 4-5 years, gone back to beadlocks, as you cant tell when a staun is flat [yes crap in the bead punctures them] because they dont "lock" the bead, they just hold 40 psi against it, inside and out, so crap still gets in there, and when they flap around deflated, while your driving home, they wear big grooves inside your tyres.......

These allieds take some getting the inside bead seatd, as the rim isnt "tapered" down to the safety groove, so knocking abead off the inside would be very difficult.
