Anyone driving on the beach? I’m curious to hear some trip reports. Particularly people who have done the overnight fishing thing on IBSP, I have some specific questions.

(not my rig, but it should be…)

Yes, but who among us is brave enough to do it anyway??

I stopped driving on the beach not worth it- get a beater jeep or Ford or something for the beach but I have year of experience just stopped taking the taco for above reasons.

How bad did it get?

I was diligent in hosing out the undercarriage and frame getting the sand out- but it still found it’s way into a void where the upper shock mount was and Toyota bought back the truck- this was my 99. My 2004 has a new frame I try not to even drive it when they salt the roads and I use fluid film. If you do drive on the beach stick to dry sand only- no wet sand, no water crossings and go slow, less sand getting tossed up into the frame.

Old thread, but I'm new here. There's no issues taking your truck on the beach if you take care of it. It's a 4x4, that's what they're meant for. I frequent IBSP and will be in my LX within the next month as well.

got my pass for the third year running, always worth the trip.

truck has yet to fall apart :)

First time on the beach with the 200 today. 67fF and windy so a bit of a push but had to do it. I figure once every couple years won’t kill it. The beach house we are staying at is literally over the water and the saltwater spray is crazy. The cruiser was caked with dried salt the first night. I just keep hosing it down each day.

The salt definitely eats them away but if you keep it clean when you do go out it should be fine. And if you’re from the area it doesn’t really matter if you’re on the beach or in town it’s the same environment.

This is the exact reason I bought the LX. Turning it into a full time buggy.
