This 3-day/2-night trip (or the optional 4-day/3-night version) will travel to Coyote Flats just southwest of Bishop CA. Coyote Flats sits at about 10,500' so it should be nice daytime temps and cool nights. Coyote Flats used to serve our US Military for high altitude landing/take-off/tough & goes; the airstrip still remains although is fenced off.

This area is the last large tract of land open to vehicles in the Eastern Sierra. Views to the west of the John Muir Wilderness is truly breathtaking. We will explore the general area on Saturday including a mine site, small lakes which are good for fishing and several of the 4x4 trails. I plan to bring my fly fishing gear including float tube if anyone else is game that'd be great.

See everyone there.

I'm good to go. I'll bring my fly gear as well. I may have a budy come along in his mildly lifted Taco.

I'm in!
I'll be leaving Napa Friday early and Cruising over Tioga Pass to 395 and then on down to Bishop. Where should I meet everyone? And using the standard 2M frequency, 146.460?

146.460 simplex. Jacks Cafe in Bishop (West side of Hwy 395 downtown Bishop about 12:00PM/Noon will be the meeting place...and lunch spot).

There may be a few folks coming from the Bay area too...

I'm waffling...
Wife tells me that our daughter might have found a new house to rent in Sacramento and needs to move in on the "FIRST OF THE MONTH!"

They know I'm drooling about this run, and we might move her on the 3rd of the month.
I'll decide and let you know Dan.

Just in case anyone is on the fence...a few pics I took several years ago at CF.

If snapping my fingers would help...:D

Just show them who's boss, boss! :D :D

geez...a run that I could have probably gone on...except for one small issue. I won't be in the country. I am going on vacation to the caribbean this sunday and will be gone for 2 weeks...

well, take some good pictures for me guys. i am still hoping to do some runs, attend a meeting, and finally meet some of you guys one of these days.

jon.

I thought it was clicking your heels together? :D

Any pictures of the camping area?

Oooo...I forgot about that trick :D.

There are many different camping spots at CF. This one is kind of a cool spot in the trees on the northern side; good for up to about 6-rigs or so.

We've also camped down along Baker Creek...both of the sites are in the trees. Then there's a bunch o sites out in the open...

We will have a waxing moon near 3/4 full or so. The Perseid Meteor Shower isn't until August 12th but stargazing should be nice there anyway.

Dan,

I'm confirmed. Will most likely be coming with Lata and Isha though they're not completely sure yet. The photos look great! We will meet you at Bishop noon Fri at Jacks Cafe.

MAN , I just returned from the Sweet Water Range and am still pumped.
I will have to ask the boss nicely.......

Better yet: Bring her! ;)

Can we get a head count for those interested in leaving on Thursday please!

Ok...as of today it looks like at least one other person besides me is interested in going down on Thursday. So as of right now the Thursday option will occur.

Assuming I leave on Thursday do the rest of you want to meet at the original time and place? Or would it be preferable for everyone to just meet in Bishop at Jack's Cafe at Noon?

Waffle away! I'm in and leaving Friday morning "early" to make it to Jack's by noon.

We're waiting................................................................................................................................................
