I'm have a new alpine head unit that i just installed today. its a CDA-1825 i believe. I am looking into adding a bass tube to it. Can i get some opinions on them and can someone run me through how to wire it up? pics would be greatly appreciated. the head unit has 3 pre-amp outputs in the back, does it connect to one those? sorry, im kinda dumb with stereo stuff. thanks.

Is the bass tube powered (w/ a built-in amplifier) or not? If you aren't sure, take a picture of the connections and post it.

i dont have a bass tube...im looking into buying one, if i do it will have a built in amp for sure...trying to save space.

I think you might have a CDA-9825. Most of the Alpine's I've seen have the pre-amp cables labeled or have a little diagram. Like you guessed, "subwoofer" jack hooks up to subwoofer. You'll also need a "remote" turn on lead from your head unit and power from your battery. I believe the crossover frequency and subwoofer level control are controlled by the head unit.

Let us know what you buy. The stereo stuff is easy. I have been considering an Infinity BassLink, had a cheap tube that I wasn't impressed with....Trying to find out if anybody here has heard both.

I have an Infinity Basslink and it is an AWESOME unit, I got it off ebay for $125 and it is amplifited and has even a remote sub level control box. it is very cool!

Bazooka with build in amp does not work very well with Alpine or any other stereo with 4 volt pre out. They could only work with 2 Volt max preout. You would need to tap to the speaker level inpout in which case you lose the flexibility of the head unit subwoover level controller.

I would suggest you to get infinitty basslink (the best) but not easily removeable, Kenwood Woox or Clarion SRV303. The Kenwood are very compact and easily removed if needed. The clarion on the other hand are so compact it might fit under the front seat to give you that vibration right where its needed.

All 3 system are not the right system if you want to be heard from outside the car.

All should be about the same. The basslink gives the option of pre amp outs or using speaker high ins for a signal.

full time power direct to battery, turn on, ground......all of them need the same thing....

If you are that worried, just pay to have it put in or try to learn the basics....

BASS tube = NO BASS. They are for cars with NO room that have no options. I'd get a small amp and a 10" sub. Cost about the same and sound 1000x's better. You can also build a custom box for the sub to fit most anywhere you'd like.

As far as difficultly in the install, you have to run the same wire for a bass tube than a seperate setup.

The more I think about it, I may lean this way. As far as a cost effective approach, I have an 18 year old Punch 45 that needs rebuilding I think, shop said they can send it off for $79...... Then I would just have to buy 1 sub and make or buy a box...should be able to put something together with some serious work for less than $300.....

I'm just afraid that instead of adding some good base to stock head unit and the Eclipses, then I will also have to buy another amp and headunit to match that Punch's bass output......

Trying to keep it sort of simple for now......If I could find a Basslink for $125 there would be no questions......buy it now is $200-225 plus shipping unless you get used (maybe something else will pop up)

which rig are you putting this in? i just put a 10" sub in the rear passenger side panel of my hj60. I used 3/4 " plywood, weatherstripping to seal it up and a little dynamat to get rid of any rattles and leaks. It sounds very clean, and does not take up much space at all. Just a thought if it's going in your 60 or 80.

It's for an 80.......Would like to get something into that sidepanel, and keep the floor clean......

Don't bother with red oing the sub...you can get a pair of new 12's or 10's on Ebay for under 100 and they are good subs. I had 2 15s on a 900w Fosgate and stock highs, so bass drowing out will not be a problem.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. The Punch 45 is an amp, I don't have any subs.......It used to be part of my first true system. It is bridgeable as well.

I used an Audiobahn sub as it had a shallow enough mounting depth, doesn't need a ton of air, and came highly recommended. I used the old panel as a template and viola, I have bass and clean floor. Let me take some pics for you...
