I searched the forums, couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. Does anyone know if and where the terminator is located in the engine bay? Once I ground it I will set the idle, what is the stock idle speed? Also, what is the base timing? I appeciate any help guys!

on my 96 (FZJ-80) the base timing is on a sticker under the hood, the connector is on the right side (vehicles right) of the firewall. may be diffrent on a FJ-80

you really should get the FSM (factory Service Manual) contact CDan for a good price and good service

You can view my post from a month or so ago and see if it helps. Setting the timing on a 3FE stinks.

Timing post

The box to short out the engine for a static timing check is located on the firewall passengers side. The box has raised letters that says "Dignostics".
Short out TE1 and E1, set the idle to 700 rpm's and the timing should be 7º BTDC.
