I have a 2000 LC and the tranny is starting to slip. Any quick fixes or do I need to replace. What is the best option for replacement?
Thanks!

2000 have a bad history of early failures. Sorry to say, but you are more than likely looking at a full replacement, around $3500.

Well, the usual check the fluid levels, drop the fluid in the pan and look for metal. Could be the torque converter, valve body, probably a few other things to check before a new box. Take it to a reputable shop in the area and have them take a look.

There are quite a few threads on the 2000 transmission woes, it's a small percentage of the 2000 trannies that had problems, but a large enough number to stick out as a problem compared to other years.

How many miles?

More info on "slip", please. That is not the typical 2000 failure mode. The failure is typically a catasrophic and sudden failure - no more motion at all. Anyway, start with the recommendation to check fluid and pan. Where are you located? There are some Cruiser-friendly toyota dealers that can do much better on a reman'd R&R than your typical off-the-street price, sometimes a couple of K better, based on some outrageous quotes lately. Depends on where you are though.

This.

Not that you couldn't have a bad clutch pack, just haven't seen any other postings here on MUD. But that is not the 'standard' 2000 LC failure mode.
