Last night while Unlock my doors via the door handle sensor switch the truck beeped, six times and all the doors unlocked except for the driver side door. This morning same thing and I need to use the remote to get into my driver side door. I am guessing this is a door actuator problem?

It’s been a while since I replaced my actuators, but my recollection is that when an actuator failed, the remote did not lock/unlock that door either. The only way to lock/unlock the door was to use the manual toggle inside the car. My driver’s door actuator never failed.

edit: I also recall my actuators did not fail completely right out of the gate. There was a period of a few weeks where the operation was inconsistent. Meaning I would need to hit the electric (or remote) lock/unlock button several times to get the suspect door to lock/unlock. At some point, the actuator failed completely. Hope this helps.

People on here have changed the small motor inside the actuator vs replace it, so you can keep OEM (but apparently not perfect) quality for the rest of the unit while saving some money.

Probably worth searching some, it has been a while since someone posted about it.

How pricey is this going to be? I’m not doing it myself, so complete OEM unit it’s going to be? Just dropped it off at Toyota, we shall see.

When I purchased my 200 I had the same issue, the dealership I purchased from used a cheap work around that didn't work. Toyota dealership charge for part and labor came out to $800 for me 2yrs ago.

Awesome, I just got a call from them.....unable to replicate. I told them to hold it and try again in the morning. 🤦‍♂️

I had an intermittent issue with the driver side back door. Started after a trip to the snow, probably temperature related. Thought it was the FOB as the lights would not flash when I pushed the FOB’s button to lock/unlock the LC. Turned out to be the actuator. Sprayed some silicon on the locking mechanism and cycled the locks a dozen times. Haven’t had any issues since.
The actuator is a common problem with Toyotas, and I thought is was only my ford that had these issues lol. Tundras and Camrys see this on the regular. If you spend any time on the tundra boards you’d swear you landed on a Domestic Truck Forum, I was shocked to read the issues that are far too common with the 2nd gen.
I bought a 4 pack of the actuator motors on amazon that I’ll swap in if needed. There is also a eBay seller that has rebuilt OEM actuators for around $60. I Found them through a thread on here when I was researching this issue.

I have replaced two or three of these already. Not uncommon.

Did you do just the motor or the whole assembly? Any idea if cold temperature played a role in the failing actuator?

Probably misled with the “I have replaced.” Took to dealer :) I don’t recall any correlation with cold weather, then again South Texas doesn’t get very cold. I do remember that they failed within the space of 12 months.
