I have notice the last few times on the trail, my brakes on my 62 just flat out do not stop the truck. The brake pedal can be pushed to the floor with some resistance. I bled the brakes and htere was no air. Its got a 3.5" lift but the LSPV has a little bracket installed to bring it back to level. For a while i thought maybe it was the weight of the truck with bumpers/gear but it does not seems like it should be this bad even with the extra weight. Any thoughts?

how old is the fluid? and have you ever boiled it? once the fluid gets above a certain temp it loses its effectiveness.

Flud is pretty new. Its never been boiled to my knowledge. I dont drive the car a ton of miles. Prob 20 a week. its been that way for a while i just now know i really need to get it right.

Might take a look at the back brakes. Freed up bellcranks, replaced leaky cylinders and readjustement can make a big difference in overall braking behavior and pedal feel in my experience.

Funny you say that. After I posted i read up on all the tests in my FSM so that I could go down that road. I will keep working on it!! I love cruisers, i get a new mechanical lesson after each trip!! keeps me on my toes.

Rear brakes. Things tend to get rusty and the self adjusters stop working.

As ad20k suggested, free up the bell cranks, adjust the rears.
