Well, 6 months into it and Allstate is still dicking him around.

Sent in pics, wanted more, sent in comps, wanted more, sent in $16k in receipts, still no change in value. It’s absolutely unbelievable. Having to hire a 3rd party appraiser.

I have a declared value on my ‘73 with Hagerty. I highly highly highly recommend this to anyone who doesn’t like getting raped by ins companies.

I had problems with State Farm when one of their members (heh heh) ran over my little Civic.
I think I finally threatened to go to the state insurance commission and then they suggested a 3rd party valuation.
Those guys came up with a value similar to what I was proposing.
Big Block Appraisals.

Interesting. I have the Porsche insured that way with Leland West. Couldn’t get them,Hagerty, Grundy to consider the Cruiser if used off road. Suggestions?

I’ve done what @scrapdaddy has done, but with State Farm. I haven’t had a claim or any need to use declared value, but my rates are reasonable. I was able to suggest value and had to back it up with pics of the trucks.

I’ve done that also with a State Farm. Probably past time to update the value.

I believe Hagerty told me it could only be driven local, to shows etc. Not what I wanted to do. I went with Safeco and a stated amount of value.

I went back and forth with Hagerty six times via email making sure and they said as long gas it was a named road, there was no issues/restrictions. I heard that in other states it’s different? I went through all the exclusion paperwork and no issues with it being out of state or dirt roads or anything.

Grundy said only to car shows and back. Could even take my kids to school in it??

this business with Allstate is ridiculous.

I’m with Farm Bureau ( Auto Insurance | Farm Bureau Financial Services - https://www.fbfs.com/insurance/auto-insurance )

I went with declared value and have no restrictions, I turned in my last off-road incident and they cut a $30,000.00 check no questions asked to get it repainted.

I sent them some photos of the build process then directed them to Icon and told them to use the pulldown menu and get their own comps ( ICON4x4 • ICON FJ - https://www.icon4x4.com/fj/config ) They had no issue with my declared value after that.

update on getting screwed by Allstate:

Im looking for a third party appraiser so I can send in some real world numbers along with an angry letter from an attorney.
A buddy in the insurance field said that to be considered a "qualified appraiser" all thats necessary is knowledge of cruisers and experience selling them in the past.

would anyone be willing to write up a detailed appraisal, or know of someone who would?

happy to pay for the effort.

preciate it yall!

When I was in a pissing contest w/ State Farm, they suggested Big Block Appraisals. That worked out well for me. In their appraisal they even stated "owner enthusiasm would be likely to yield a higher resale price". This was for a non-LC.

Big Block also sent me to Proffitt's Resurrections Cruisers for LC specific appraisals...
