Hey All!
So I'm thinking about taking the new girl I'm seeing on a trip up the backway to Crown King this Saturday. She likes small towns, and neither one of us have been to Crown King. So I looked at some recent posts and it seems like the trail isn't too bad? I'm figuring my rig shouldn't have too many issues. So does anyone wanna join us? We're just planning a day trip, get up there and fly on back down the 17. Any thoughts or advice? Let me know! Thanks!

Hey Matt,

I just made the trip for memorial day and thetrail is in great shape considering all the rain and snow we got last year. Went up with a bunch of people from the AZVJC including a Ford Ranger on 31" ATs. Ranger made it all the way up the trail unassisted except for the last obsticle. The trail is mostly easy with a few moderate obsticles, most of which can be bypassed.

It's a long trail and if you go on a weekend there will always be people out there. Bring a cooler with lunch and some cold drinks so you can enjoy lunch at the creek. I'd cruise with you guys but I have class all weekend. Have fun and be safe. You guys will have a blast.

P.S. I'm not sure if you've ever been up that way but I've got some pictures of our trip if you want to check them out.

Cody P.

Hey Cody! Thanks for the info! It will be my first time up that way and would really like to check out some pics before heading out. Thanks!

This may sound mother-hennish, but I wouldn't recommend running that trail alone, especially your first time. It's 30+ miles of wilderness, and there are some obstacles that cannot be avoided. There are always people on the trail so you needn't worry about not being able to get back to town, but you can't count on them to help with recovery or repairs.
I might be able to join you, not sure yet. I'll post up when I know.

Yea, biggest fear as always when on trails alone is getting stuck or breaking down. I'm not too worried about finding the way however. Let me know if you can go. Thanks!

Isn't the CSC motto: "Get lost first, ask questions second" ?

Can't make it.

Just a heads up, I'm not going out tomorrow. But I want to do this trail soon. Thanks for the info and all!

I wouldnt mind making that run a little later in the fall. Its been a while since my last trip to CK.

I thought that's how you're supposed to find the way to any new place?

mrhustle23, let me know next time you are heading up and I will be in for sure. I know the way well and it's one of my favorite trails in AZ. In the summer it starts off a tad warm, but once you gain elevation it cools down. Plus it would be good to get out and wheel with you finally.
