I have a 2005 100 series and the backup camera has poor low light performance. I’m guessing that a more recent camera design would work better. Are these cameras based on an industry standard for number of wires, voltages, and output resolution / video signal? I’m looking for something compatible with the factory head unit. I don’t mind splicing wires or making a new bracket to mount it.

This isn't at all what you asked, forgive me, but you may be able to get away with upgrading your reverse lights to LEDs if low light is your only concern.

I tried that already, but really wasn’t pleased. They are bright, but have very little spread to the beam.
