Can anyone point me in the direction of options. My understanding is this is a 28v camera. Anyone running a 12v with a transformer attached.

It's unclear what you're doing... Has the camera gone bad and you're replacing it? Or are you upgrading the nav unit and need a compatible camera?

Sorry for lack of details. I have 2006 GX with Nav. The backup camera sucks. Can I update the camera and keep the head unit? On a side note, I installed the led reverse lights tonight and they washed out the backup camera and the Nav screen when in reverse. I put the old ones back in. Thoughts?

You won’t get better resolution on the screen if that’s what you’re talking about. I would leave it alone and deal with it. It’s not like you’re streaming 4k porn through your backup camera.
Wow, you had to go there! Lol

@jiggletits is right... the screen resolution and the format of the video signal (RCA) is more of the problem here... not the camera itself. Upgrading the camera will do nothing for you.

From my own experience, the LED reverse lights are much brighter and have a few LEDs on the end that point directly towards the camera. Couple that with the diffused lens and you get that washed-out image when backing up at night. The only solution really is to use less-bright bulbs or find some LEDs that only face out from the sides.

Factory cam is a 6v piece, not a 28v.
My camera was completely dead and corroded(check my build thread). I didn't feel like shelling out hundreds of dollars for a factory replacement, so I bought a 6v cam on eBay for like $30. Screen resolution still sucks but I'm happy with the results.
