*** SOLD SOLD SOLD **** 1974 fj40 i got off cragslist about 4 or 5 moths ago. it had ben sitting in a barn for 8yrs and i was excited to see if this old girl still had life in her. trailered it home and went to work replacing all the usual stuff. New fuel tank, breaks, clutch master and slave, rubber brake lines, swapped in a front disc axel, fresh oils, some all terrain tires/ wheels, bolted on a healthy Oem carb i picked up from lambcrusher. added some fresh fuel and it fired right up!! runs like a champ. runs great and starts easily once its warmed up (choke cable not attached to carb yet). exhaust is very clean. drives great.. stops great..this all happened about 3mo ago and its ben siting ever since.. i have 2 fj40s (both sitting lately so I've decided to let them both go to someone who is at a stage in life that can enjoy the fj40s. i have a toddler and an infant (thats crawling now). they can't go in the fj40's so I've become a 80 series guy for now (temporary condition) This is a very solid fj40 body panels look great except for the sides of the cowell below the kick vents (see pictures). also front floor pan has ben fiberglassed it is very useable as is but needs a front and mid section floor to be right. also stearing is loose and needs to be adjusted. also comes with new windshield glass & weather strip. this is a great deal for someone. $5800 ill post pics asap. I'm in central FL. fyi the other fj40 is the yellow one in my avatar. total refurbish done by Profitts Cruisers in Colorado. 5 yrs. ago. 1HZ diesel, 5speed, disc all around, A/C, PS it is better than new cond $48,000. its not posted yet because its getting some minor paint scratches touched up at the body shop. this truck was my daily driver until the latest family addition and the purchase of the 80 series last yr.

GLWS. RE being a temporary 80 guy - I'll bet it won't be so temporary, especially if you wind up doing more than just a day of wheeling with the kids. I went to an 80 when I had two kids back in 02, and I'm still driving it. We use it all the time for camping, light off road and pulling boats and motorcycles. just sayin.

sorry for the delayed response i was in Blue ridge GA with the family this weekend.. yes driving the 80 series. The fj40 is in winter park fl. (orlando) no hard top. no one uses them any way.. they just take up space in the garage. i do have a set of oem soft top bows i can sell with the truck for a an additional fee of $750. thats what i pd. tstark for them a few mo. ago.

new price 5800. someone get this out of my garage.. it would make the drive to VA no prob. if you swapped in the new tie rods (kim kardashian loose steering), and swapped in the replacement rear diff. maybe 3 or 4 hrs worth of work. if your slow as i am 6hr.

hood is super clean top, bottom. frame is solid NO cancer . as mentioned above front and mid section of floor was fiberglassed over so it is useable as is.. but to be right those sections need to be cut out and new floor wielded in. those floor panels are available by several vendors (floridafj80 here on mud, real steal cruiser parts etc.) if i still have this by Thursday Ill likely be taking the carb and sending it off to a LC Pro, i went to start the truck last thurs and the truck is now running poorly due to sitting for so long and the carb needs to be gone through. i may get the rear diff rebuilt too. but the more i do the less flexible the price.
