Does anyone out there have a manual tire changer like Princess Auto sells or a connection for changing tires cheaply?

So here's the story, I have a utility trailer that my Dad built many years ago using some '77 Honda Civic hubs. It's getting hard to find 12" tires for those rims and the bolt pattern was not common so I got him to change out those hubs for some '82 Toyota Tercel hubs I had kickin' around. They are 13" and I thought the bolt pattern on them was 4x100.

At pick 'n' Pull the other day I found 4 excellent tires on 4x100 rims and bought them for the trailer and thought that I could just swap out the whole wheel, but now I find that the '82 Tercel has a 4x114 bolt pattern. :doh:Shoulda measured!

So, I have 4 of the right size tires and two extra rims to put them on. Since the rims will not fit my hubs I want to take off the tires and return the rims to PnP and I got 30 days. I could buy the tire changer for $80 from Princess, but if possible, I don't want to because I probably won't use it that much, but I think it would still be cheaper than getting a shop to do it.

Please let me know if you have a tire changer I can use or a place that will do it for dirt cheap.

I have an air driven tire changer but to small of a compressor to run it...

Arnott,

How much air does it need and is it (semi) portable? Or is it the tire shop type?

I have a shop one but it will be weeks before I have spare time to do it.

mine is a shop one non portable. Needs a big 110V compressor or a 220 any size.

Bambino, I'm not in a big rush. I just want to be able to return the rims and I have 30 days to do that, so a couple of weeks would be ok. Would we be able to do it?

Arnott, can I assume that you don't have this beast set up either since you don't have the air to run it? I have a buddy that has an older 110v compressor that might run it, but it may be too much of a hastle for the $40 that the rims cost.

Now that I know the resources are out there, I think that Bambino will be the best option even if we can't meet the 30 day deadline.

Thanks guys!

No big deal for me , where in the city do you live ?

That's a two beer job

You can do that in 3min!?! That's pretty awesome!
