Just wondering how extreme of ratios some people are running with the FJ62s...stock 3fe/a440fauto setup of course. stock is 4.11, and i know what good ratios work with what size tires and RPM ranges, but wondering what some owners are actually employing on the pavement or in the dirt.

I've see a 62 on some 50"+ tractor tires running something in the 9 range before!!! But that's probably the only of its kind, so what do yall have with what tires and what are the results/your opinions?

I run 4.56s with my 31s. This basically puts me back to stock ratios. Even though the difference is only 10% I find that on the highway with the torque converter locked up my rpms were too low for long moderate hills. The 3FE just doesn't have enough power to compensate. Now I can pull almost everything except the mountains passes in my area in overdrive (I hold it in 3rd for the steep hills).

sweet

makes sense...i ran 31s originally, then 33s with the stock 4.11s. I know what you're talking about compensating with the 3FE.
appreciate the reply
