Setting up some new springs and diffs for my 75 FJ40 - trying to find a good reference to start from.. With the stock front diff and axles installed I'm measuring about 1/4" more from frame to backing plate on the driver side than the passenger side..

This normal? or is the front axle supposed to be perfectly centered about the front frame rails?

Thanks

Jon

Thanks Ive measured it a number of times and it keeps coming up offset..

Everything looks stock and original.. frame doesnt appear to be bent or twisted badly.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks

1/8 of an inch is almost nothing. Is this a running vehicle, if it is have you measured it after running around the block?

No its on stands in my garage. I'm going soa with 56" chevy springs in the rear and trying to figure where the diff needs to sit side to side and came accross this offset issue.. Seems to be consistent down the frame now - Body mounts not symmetric to the front frame rails either. Think im going to just square the rear diff into place against the stock position of the front diff and call it good enough.

Thanks

When it lands on the road with "cruiser lean" it might be nothing or 1/4, when it's on a slope it could be anything. Not an issue.
