Looking for driving light ideas. It seems like outside of a front bumper replacement (which I’m not doing yet) there are very limited options in terms of mounting additional driving lights. Some of the roads/fire roads I drive on get very dark, so am looking for some aux lighting to help with that. I’m not opposed to a light bar on top of roof, but I’m not sure I need a roof rack yet and doing a $1k rack (plus associated gas mileage hit) just for some lighting doesn’t seem entirely necessary. Though maybe that’s my best option? Very open to any and all suggestions. Please share any pictures you’ve found (or done yourself!)

Thanks again everyone, this is by far the best car community I’ve been a part of yet!

Driving light need to meet SAE/DOT requirements. No light bar are street legal.
Your best bet is Diode Dynamics SS3 pro with driving lens. They are very small and can be hidden behind bumper grill.

I may have used the term incorrectly. I really just meant not fogs. I won’t be using them on anything but deserted roads where road legality doesn’t matter.

Baja Designs LP6/9 Pro would be small enough project far enough for desert use. You can bolt to front bumper with simple brackets. The problem is people know they are expensive and it's a popular theft target.

Chinese laser light bar might be cheap and good enough nowadays. Don't have experience but heard good things about laser for desert use.

Yea the problem is every mount I’ve seen looks tacked on or terrible. Also, theft another reason to integrate with a roof rack I guess...

As Jstawgn mentioned, behind the grill is a great option.
Another is going with "ditch lights". They're mounted on the hood by the A pillars.

I have been running the Rigid SAE compliant D series for 3 years now. First on my Taco and now my GX. If you drive in snow much these are fantastic lights as the don't blast light everywhere to reflect off of snow or fog. The are also easy for oncoming traffic.

Where do you have them mounted?

It’s a little spendy, but mike at offroad warehouse is doing preorders for a mount setup that sits in front of the grille and is a direct bolt in for the 14+.
