I cant get my poly tank i bought from downey to stop leaking. The top plate where the sending unit, pickup and return are. It leaks out of most the bolts and the cork gasket with a full tank, i have tryed permitx on the cork and tread sealer on the bolts and its still leaks. Any ideas would be great befor i trash the tank and have one made!!!:frown:

Have you tried calling Downey and see what they say? Jim is a member of the board. If you don't call, try a PM. His Mud name is, surprisingly, "Downey". I've had pretty good customer service from them for the few things I have bought.

Oh, and welcome to Mud! Post up some pictures of your rig!

Good luck!

I called as soon as i got the tank cause the bottom ring that threaded that goes inside the tank that the top plate bolts too it where not drilled "square". Who ever i talk to acted like that was impossible and told me i should just "turn it over or around". But now that im taking the tank out for the 4th time i guess i will try again to see if they can send me the parts again cause its obvious what i got is not going to hold gas. Im still trying to get the site fig. might have to ask the wife 4 help to get the pics. of my L.C. up thanks for the reply

If the bottom plate is not matched to the top plate, I can't imagine that you could get proper torque on either plate, and that would then seem to be a logical reason for your leak.:hhmm:

It is my understanding that Downey will have another batch of tanks made in a week or so. So I'd imagine that they'll be machining more cover plates for those tanks as well. That'd be good timing for you to send yours back for inspection and/or replacement.

Jim was at a funeral yesterday. So on behalf of Downey, I will thank you for your patience.:)

Best
