i think i heard about sombody on this forum putting a 2nd alternator on their FJc. i'd be really interested in knowing where and how he put it on. my understanding (i havent looked because its dark outside) is that there arent any mounting brackets for such a thing. but tbh i'mma need a second one if i plan on having all the equip that i'm planning on having. :grinpimp:

What do you plan on having, that will be a load while the vehicle is running, that you need a 2nd alternator? You should be able to do a lot with a 2nd battery, which should be more useful than a second alternator in many circumstances.

well a second battery is also in the works but a 2nd alternator will power a winch, air compressor, 2 power outlets and welder far better than a battery

I suppose so, though I can't see you normally needing more than a dual batt system will offer, unless you are using all accessories at once (ie. winching, while airing up, while welding :D).

heh, well lets just say its a small price to pay for the peace of mind knowing i can use my truck as a generator if need be. also i'll probably be using this truck (to a limited degree) on jobsites so some of the upgrades would be used simultaneously at times.
