I have removed my running boards and will be putting in rear spacers and raising the front end. I don't have any issues getting in and out but I have smaller kids and since it looks so much better without the running boards I started looking into the auto ones.

Doing my research I have not found any and wondered if anyone had done the same thing or had seen them anywhere.

Thanks in advance and if I missed a previous thread I apologize!

Shawn, I dont't you'll find any Navigator style running boards for the 100. I think your best compromise is going to be a nice set of sliders - looks as good or better than nothing there, and functions as a step. The step function varies by brand/style. But, there are actually a lot to choose from for the 100s.

Are you referring to auto retractable steps like amp-research? I am not aware of anyone that makes them for the LC/LX, but if you were to find some with similar dimensions, I am sure you could rig them up somehow.

What about a set of slider steps as an alternate? They still look really good, are very functional and provide similar service as the flimsy OEM steps.

Oops, basically what Manhattan said, I was just slow to post...

personally i'd go with sliders w/ a built in step like the Slee SliderStep.

that said, if your sole purpose is to aide kiddos into the back seat, you could just put one of these on either side for just the rear doors. then when they're older, remove them.

all great replies. I have considered sliders and that is a real option. I do like the look of the AMP auto sliders as it appears to be rock sliders but functions as a step. I'll keep doing some research.

Anyone ever used the OEM hardware from the running boards to make sliders with some welding?

The OEM side step hardware is very flimsy. Just some stamped brackets. There isn't much you could reuse.

I just installed white knuckle sliders and they are awesome but they angle up 20* making them a little less useful as foot steps but they can make them flat as well. Even with the 20* upwards angle my 3 y/o boy can climb into the cruiser now without any help.

I read these kinds of threads from time to time, mostly because my wife has a hard time getting in/out since I took off the OEM steps. I know the FJ Cruiser crowd in the US has sliders available as an accessory. And these sliders have some sort of detachable steps that hang below, but can be removed for off-road use. Only seen one in my area and I couldn't stop to take a look. Anybody know why they would/wouldn't work on one of the aftermarket sliders available?

Amp Research makes a power running board for the Hummer H3 which has a 111.9 inch wheelbase. You can probably modify them to fit. Personally if I was going that 'custom' route, I would contact Rock Slide Engineering and see if they have something that will work for your 100.

I wouldn't want the amp research ones personally. Don't get me wrong they are really nice and all and they are a quality product but I'd hate to break them when wheeling.

Rock slide engineering makes a power step that is also a slider. It's the only one I know of that's like that though.
