Hi folks, I bought an FJ 62 last year (1988) and when purchased the 3 non-driver windows were not working. The PO told me that the 'window lock' switch broke off a couple weeks prior, but that the windows worked fine until that happened. He gave me the switch, so I have all the pieces.

It didn't really matter to me in making the decision to buy or not so I didn't put much thought into it, but now I'm thinking about fixing it and am trying to figure out what exactly the best way to go about it is.

So what I'm talking about is the drivers console that controls all the windows and locks. That is where the lock switch was, and the 3 non-driver windows will not roll down from that console or the switches on their own doors. Drivers works fine.

Does anyone have advice on how to figure out if it really is just the switch that is broken in the locked position? Or if those 3 windows are just.. dead?

If I can determine that the problem is just the broken switch, is that an easy fix? Or is there a way to disable that broken switch's locking effect... so that passengers can roll down their own windows? I won't care if I can't roll them up or down as the driver if that gets around it.

I'm still pretty much a newbie, so if this is an obvious thing go easy on me :p I searched as best I could but did not find a thread with an answer for this issue.

Thanks for any help!
