Hi mines a 60 Something model. Can't find a vin tag. Any suggestions where to look?

The early vehicles didn't have a vin number as such, but were registered from the chassic number which is stamped on the front of your right hand chassic rail near the front bumper.. As you possibly know... 
I apparently have an old RAAF fj40. Was light blue in colour which is on the plate, but then when all forces changed to military green, they re sprayed it but didn't change the plate. Luckily I didn't order the paint code on the plate or I would have been very upset lol. It's a factory built soft top. How do I find out the history of the vehicle? I did find out that it has pollution gear on the engine, so came from nsw. Cheers
