I've been noticing that Aussie bullbars seem to be quite a bit more stout (bigger) then what I've seen for sale here in the US. It is true that we don't have as many Boomers and wombats roaming around, but crikey, if you live in the NE you see your share of Deer and occasional Moose. A while back we had three different vehicles hit deer within two miles of our house within a few days of each other. They are great to protect you from the occasional tree and non-insured illegal turners, but note the next link...

To our fellow cruiser folks in Oz, how vocal are the forces wanting to make the bullbar more animal/pedestrian friendly? I've come across a few articles on the subject in my bullbar research and wondered how effective the movement has been?

I wonder if I would get hassled for having one of these big boys on my rig here in the US.:D

those bullbars cause a lot of fuss over here. most people want them banned, me included. i have never owned one or done a crash test on one but i dont think they offer any more protection than an ARB. most of the people i have seen with them have them just for show anyway.

also i believe that those bullbars dont actually pass the pedestrian safety standards put out by the government. while those standards arent law yet they may get banned in the future.

they are trying to ban them..along wiht 4wds here.... i agree thata they are in fact...for tossers...those who defile landcruisers wiht those should be the test pieces!!! ;P

I get a kick out of the bullbar loyal site. They show a moose in a car.... no bullbar stops that. They weigh 1500 lbs and their belly is the height of your roof line in a car. I see them step over 5 foot fences in my yard with no jumping.

Just need the small bridge that's been bolted to the front bumper to be welded into a ginormous exo skeleton. Its a shame that because of inbred designs there may be political repercussions for those who are more practical.
I at first thought the link was a joke when I saw the first car! I guess the Aussy gangsta's cant get enough bling...

Looking at the oversize Aussie ones make me think... What thickness steel do you guys think theyre made of? IMO if they where constructed like ARB or other "serious" brands they would wheigh in at +1000lbs!!! Hang that in front of a 2wd Ute and try going through a corner!!!
