Well the little clickity-clickity-click song my Aussie locker sangs turned into a klinkity-pop-bang deaf cry when ever i make a left or right turn yesterday. So I pulled it all apart today and found that 3 of 4 pins are broken. My aussie locker is 1 week shy of 4 years old today and has logged about 40k miles during that time. This is the first issue i have had with it. I pulled out the install guide and rechecked the measurments that i noted when i installed it and they are the same. I found the pin kit online for 20.00 and will order it on monday (unless by chance ECGS has one in stock). Not sure what casued the pin failure, i do drive a little spirited on the street, don't know if it is a contributing factor though. Glad it is nothing major, really don't want to put any money into these axles, as i would like to swap in some factory e-lockers.

the pin side of the holes are good, but the spring side might have a little wear, but it hard to tell. The pictures i found the net all appear to have the same patteren on the spring side so it might be normal. i didn't get a measurable amount of any material out of it when i drained the fluid and the magnet (plug) had a light flim to it but nothing solid.

here are a few pictures. The hole looks a little off center as the camera is at a slight angle. I was trying to capture the small shelf about half way down the slot.

While the upper portion is definitely oval, the lower section appears to be circular. It almost looks like it was supposed to be oval near the top!

Any pics from when it was new to compare?

no, didn't take and pictures new. but the top section has an oval design, based on the picture i saw on the net. I think the top part is oval to help the pin stay engauged, and to allow a little play/give.

well got the pin kit from ECGS. and got everything reassembled and buttoned back up, but didn't have enough gear oil, so i will have to wait till tomorrow to test drive it.

it's working again.

Nice man!

Know if replacing the pins is a maintenance thing for these lockers or think this is aftermath from when you broke the hub studs on the rear axle?

Good point, but unknown. we will have to see what happens in another 4 years. But, truthfully i hope to have factory e-lockers on by then.

I'll keep my eyes open for you. I've been able to find two 9.5" e-lockers below $400 now. :grinpimp:
