Just an update on the Bluetooth issue:

I picked up a new Sony-Ericsson W810i and have not had any issues with the system.
I did have an older Sony-Ericsson phone that occasionally experience the problems discussed in this thread.

I would have skipped the entire DVD/NAV option in my 2004 but it seems I had no choice in my region of the country.

Gohawks63: How do you like that Acura??? Very nice. If I needed a 4-door sedan, that would be the one.

The problem only occurs spradically and there is a VIN range, so it seems like it may have been addressed during the model year. I bought my '04 in December of '03 so it may of had some early bugs.

As for the RL, I absolutely love this car. It's a gadget geeks dream and the car is a joy to drive.

I have 5K miles on it and it's been perfect.

I had a recall done on the nav system on our '04 (manufactured in April). This was a software upgrade only; I seem to recall it was a rev update or something along those lines, not just an update of the maps. It was actually not technically a recall, it was voluntary and only offered for a limited time to affected owners. I wonder if this is the fix to the problems people have been having with their '03-'04 nav systems? However, if that were the case, why would Toyota be replacing entire units rather than simply applying this software update, unless the update was created later...?

The update was probably a revision to the fix to the hardware upgrade.:) I hate the idea of the Microsoft business model coming to cars.

"Well it looks like it could be working. Ship it and if anyone complains within warranty we'll send them a patch."

I had that done as well. That was just an issue with the DVD. Apparently the database had errors in it. THey just replaced it with a newer version. Completely different than the issue with the nav screen problems.
