Hi all,

I pulled the rad on my LJ78 this week, and lost some ATF in disconnecting the hoses, etc. Just wondering if I can use Dexron III to top up the tranny. The FSM says Dexron II, so there might be II and III mixed up in there once I top up. I can't seem to find Dexron II around these parts - maybe it's not made anymore? The Chevron site says that Dexron III will work where II is called for - just wondering about mixing the two.

Any advice welcomed.

Robin

it must be safe, cause there is no way to get all theold fluid out anyhow and mixing would be inevitable.

But ya a fluid change and filter would be good.

My T100 always got drained and refilled at 25k intervals. Never did the filter, I was told it was just a metal mesh inside........on Gm's they are paper, but toyota told me it wasn't nessacary to drop the pan, just pull the plug and drain. Not sure at what interval it would be wise to drop the pan???????

The T100 was under powered and the tranny constently downshifted, I had the overheat light once, that was my reason to keep fresh fluid in there. It got stinky fast.

I was afraid someone would say that...:o

At any rate I presume I can safely put Dexron III in there...

Cheers,
Robin

Yes I think you are fine with Dextron III it is the replacement for Dextron II from what I understand.
