Just installed the ashtray phone holder. They just recently were released for the 100 series. Kinda blocks the suspension switch, but not like I’m messing with that all the time anyway. Nice to have a place to put my phone and charge it with no wires now. Here’s the link to them: ChrisWilliamsStudio - Etsy - https://www.etsy.com/shop/ChrisWilliamsStudio

I just installed this today. Hardest part was getting the panel off (hint either pop loose the panel on top of the shifter or pry up on the bottom corners on the bottom as there are some tabs that kind of make it hard to get the bottom out). Quality product and easy installation.

Yes the bottom tabs were a bit tricky to get out. I thought I was going to break it haha. I have a set of the plastic trim pry bars I got off Amazon. The small crow bar looking one popped it right out. Highly recommend those for taking off any trim pieces.

Thanks for posting. I just picked one up.

Very clever use of space, I like it!

Why not mount the phone by the gas pedal somewhere so you have to take your eyes even further away from the road to look at it? Boggles my mind how some people go out of their way to install these complex phone holders only to defeat the entire purpose.

I have a suction cup mount to the windshield with the phone being in line with my line of sight as I'm looking at the road. My head doesn't have to move a bit. I just switch focus with my eyes from the road to the phone and can clearly see everything up ahead in my periphery.

No wonder there are so many car accidents..

I bought one as a place to rest my phone while it's connected to my aftermarket head unit that has Android Auto.
I'm not placing it there and using the phone screen to try to read Google Maps. It's obviously not designed for that.
Using the cup holders is not an ideal location.

Exactly. I didn't get this to look at my phone. I started driving before hones anyway so I don't have that habit. It's there so I can use the cup holder (I have a work phone as well that I put there), and it charges at the same time.

Hope you werent typing that while driving.

I have this holder in my LX. I powered the wireless charger using the USB from my Grom BT3 so there are no wires running anywhere.

Now when I get in my LX I place my phone there and get on my way. I always run Waze and OBDFusion, but thats on a properly mounted iPad mini.

Speaking of car accidents, try changing a cassette one handed. Now thats a real nail biter.

I use grom vline2 and saw this and thought it was a clever option. The seller went above and beyond to work with me when the first one delivered didn't quite install properly. We figured out what was wrong and he sent me a new top piece and it installed as expected. Nice to have a secure spot to lay my phone and keep my cup holders and lap free.
