Are all Toyota Knock Sensors the Same?

In the course of replacing my headgasket, I broke my knock sensor, again, the first time was during the PHH replacement. Anyway got everything back together, I'll update the other post. Got a CEL, had the code checked at autozone and it came up as the Knock Sensor. Went to the junkyard and they have some kind of Toyota inline six with a Knock Sensor on it that looks like the one on the 4.5L. I didn't compare the two side by side, I was driving mine, but the connection looks the same.

So does anyone know if the knock sensors just have to fit or are they "tuned" to each motor? I'm really hoping that if the threads are the same and the connectors are the same, the sensors are just "dumb" and will work no matter what engine it is put on.

I believe they are tuned for the bore size of the engine they run on. From what I can read online, the bore size effects the frequency of the knock... could be wrong... there are plenty of universal add on units.... google it.
 
Well I dropped, rolled and sent mine flying when I was "fixing" it by mistake, so that is probably what is wrong with mine.

Thanks for the bad news on the sensors:D I guess I will give the Sacramento yard a call and see if they have one. If not, time to feed CDan's dogs again. At this point in the game, I think his dogs are eating better than I am.:flipoff2:

Also, I got all of the shims in, so I will get them sent back to you this week. Thanks again.

I did the same thing when I broke mine during my PHH replacement. I broke it again when I took the PHH off while replacing the HG (yeah, I'm a slow learner). Anyway, I tried the epoxy again, unfortunately, I dropped it afterward and apparently they don't like being dropped. It's been a few days and it's not fixing itself.
