I recently changed my PHH, and in the process broke off the plug from the #2 Knock Sensor.

A new Knock Sensor from a dealer is ~$170.00. Ouch. Especially when you consider the sensor itself is not really broken, just the connection.

So...I have an alternate fix in place, and so far so good. Thanks to a few of you on here who steered me in this direction with some of your past posts, and PM's. Much appreciated!

Need:
2-part Epoxy
27mm Deep Socket
Extensions for ratchet
Wobble Socket for ratchet

Total Cost: ~$30.00

Remove the sensor. Epoxy the broken plug. Allow to dry. Re-insert the sensor. Plug it back in.

**You could probably even do this without removing the plug...if your hands are nimble enough...mine are not.**

Check engine light has gone away, and the engine runs normal again.

Sidenote: The only thing I am unsure of is if there is any type of torque that should be required for that sensor in the engine block. You would need a torque ratchet to do it though, and I dont have one. I would guess that torque is not an issue for how tight that sensor is. :dunno:

Good work! And thanks for recording it here for all to see.

I am sure this will save someone else some money down the road...maybe me!

I'm going to be doing my third PHH soon and maybe that is the one that will "get me".

I recognize that set-up. Sorry I forgot to pm you with the torque specs from the FSM. Month end is hectic in my business.

Hope it holds for you.

Check the label on the epoxy and see if it can handle engine type temps!

I did the exact same thing, right down to the clamp. Of course I seem to have broken it again during my HG fun. I will take a closer look tomorrow.

Ooo...good post. I'll have to check that out. Thanks for the tip.
